YONKERS AOH MARCHES IN 250TH NYC ST. PATRICK'S DAY PARADE 2011

Myles Scully Division Marches in Historic 250th N.Y.C. St. Patrick's Day Parade

Division One Yonkers Prepares to Step Off into History on 5th Avenue

History was made in New York City on Thursday, March 17th 2011 as The Saint Patrick's Day Parade, the oldest and largest in the world, stepped off for the 250th consecutive year.

It was a most memorable day as close to 300,000 marchers and 3 million spectators jammed 5th Avenue and enjoyed a spring like day with temperatures soaring into the mid 70's.

Division One was Named an "Honor Unit" in this Year's Parade!

The Myles Scully Division 1 of Yonkers was honored this year with a coveted spot in the front of the parade this year.  This was done by the parade committee to express their gratitude for Division One's outstanding support for the parade and its organizing committee.

Division One was also pleased to welcome The Honorable Philip A. Amicone, Mayor of the City of Yonkers and Associate Member of Division One as he marched with us on this historic day.

Members will Never Forget this Historic Day!

Congratulations to all of the Officers and Members who made this historic and memorable march!

A MESSAGE FROM DIVISION ONE ON THIS HISTORIC ST. PATRICK'S DAY IN N.Y.C. 2011

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Today is the 250th Annual NYC St. Patrick's Day Parade

The N.Y.C Parade steps off for the 250th consecutive year today.

The Officers and Members of Division One, Yonkers wish to share our thoughts and hopes on this solemn occasion:

"For 250 years we've marched, through adverse times and weather.  We've marched in this sacred parade through years of occupation, persecution, and poverty.

We've marched through years of famine, war, discrimination and hate; years of working the killing jobs that no one else would take.
We triumphed over all with a courageous and joyful spirit that is uniquely Irish.

Through it all we survived and never waivered; we held the banner high; we never let the standard drop.

 And as always, we marched.

Today we remember the millions of marchers who came before us, those magnificent Irish souls whose struggles have given us all we have today.  We pray for them, we honor them; and we ask God to grant us the grace to always be as strong as they were.

On this momentous day let us rededicate ourselves to the struggle.  May we always band together to help each other, and bravely fight to overcome the world's adversities.  May we always hold the banner high and never drop the standard.  And may we teach our children and our children's children to do the same.

Whatever the future brings, let us meet it with the hope, faith and happiness of our forebears.

And always…..LET US MARCH."

May God bless this parade, all who march in it, and all those who work to maintain and protect it's spirit and message.
