The Yonkers St. Patrick's Day Parade on Mclean Avenue 2014

St. Patrick’s Parade Committees Come Together to Sponsor One Grand Parade in Yonkers

The New Logo for The Yonkers St. Patrick's Day Parade

The Yonkers St. Patrick’s Day Parade will begin a new and exciting chapter in its 58 year history with the announcement that the two existing parades committees have combined and will work together to produce one of the grandest parades in the area starting in 2014!

The merger between The Yonkers St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee and the McLean Avenue Merchant’s Association Parade Committee marks a turning point in the City of Yonkers.  The parade will now be officially known as “The Yonkers St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Mclean Avenue”.  The excitement is already building throughout the city as the newly combined committee estimates that there will be close to 4,500 marchers and anywhere from 25,000-30,000 spectators on McLean Avenue March 22nd.

Tremendous crowds are expected for the 2014 parade

The St. Patrick’s Day festivities are not confined to just parade day thou.  The Parade Committee will hold a flag raising ceremony at Yonkers City Hall on March 8th at 4:00pm, followed by The Parade Mass at St. Mary’s Church on Broadway at 5:00pm.  The Parade Committee will then host a gala dinner event at Yonkers Raceway later that evening at 7:00pm.

Get Ready to "Meet Me on McLean" in 2014!

“This merger brings together the experience of the Yonkers Parade Committee with the tremendous grass roots efforts and capabilities of the Merchant’s Association, the new Parade Committee is a powerhouse!” said Division One President Kevin Ellis, “We now have the best of both worlds working together to create a truly spectacular parade event”.

The Yonkers St. Patrick’s Day Parade was initially created and sponsored by The Ancient Order of Hibernians-Division One Yonkers in 1955.  The Yonkers St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee was created in 1964 and has sponsored the parade annually until this past year.  The McLean Avenue Merchant’s Association began its own parade on McLean Avenue in 2012.  The new parade committee is now made up of members of both committees, with Larry McCrudden and Deirdre O’Mara serving as its Parade Co-Chairpersons.

AOH Division One created the Yonkers St. Patrick's Day Parade in 1955

Division One of Yonkers will continue its proud tradition of assisting with marching unit formation on parade day, and will march up The Emerald Mile as the last unit in the parade.
