President's Message January 2015

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Division One President Kevin Ellis

January 2015

Brothers,

Happy New Year!  I hope all of you enjoyed a wonderful Christmas Season.  I can say as we close out a very successful year for our Division, we are looking forward to even better things to come in 2015.

I would like to start by thanking the membership for electing me as your Division President for another term.  It is a responsibility that accept with humility and I serve with the understanding that our success as a Division is completely dependent on a total team effort.  As President, I am blessed to have the best group of officers in the entire AOH, and together we are dedicated to making 2015 our best year yet!

Thanks to all of our members who participated in our first public Officer Installation Ceremony which was held at Dunwoodie Golf Course on December 13th.  I believe that it was a tremendous success and I have received nothing but positive feedback thus far.  I would like to thank AOH Westchester County President Aidan O’Kelly Lynch and District Director Mike Flynn for performing the ceremony.  John Hyland served as our Marshal and made sure we were all in the right place at the right time. We will look forward to making this an annual event, possibly including The LAOH of Yonkers to make it an even better time.

The next event that will be coming up is The AOH Westchester County Board’s Dinner Dance that will be held at the DoubleTree Hilton Hotel in Tarrytown on Saturday, January 24 from 7pm-12mid.  Division One has already committed to a table, and we will attempt to drum up enough interest to possibly get another.  The main concern is the commemorative journal for the dinner.  The dinner is pretty much a break even affair, so profits that will come from the event will rely solely on the success of the journal.  I would encourage all members to consider purchasing an ad for a special members discounted rate of $60.00.  The County Board has already decided that 25% of the revenue from the journal will go to help Paul Clarke with his medical expenses, so your journal ad will help 2 causes at the same time!  Copies of the journal contract have been emailed to each member.  Let’s try and make this journal a success!

Also, members are reminded that we are running our Annual Charity Superbowl Pool which has become a very important fundraiser for our Division.  Please see Brian Hartnett to reserve your box today.

The final touches to our Annual Communion Breakfast Flyer are being made and we will have our first look at it when we hold our membership meeting at Fogarty’s in Bronxville on January 7th.  We will also have additional details available concerning the AOH New York State Convention to be held in July.  Our 2015 AOH membership cards should be available at the meeting as well, so please do not forget to pay your dues and pick up your card.

As you can see, the pace of events are set to pick up very quickly in the weeks ahead, and don’t forget The St. Patrick’s Day marching season is only 9 weeks away!

Although we can never predict what will happen in the future, I know as far as Division One is concerned, there is no group better prepared for success in the year in 2015.

Yours in Our Motto,

Kevin Ellis, President
Division One, Yonkers
