Aisling Irish Center Celebrates 20th Anniversary

Aisling Irish Community Center Celebrates 20th Anniversary

The Aisling Irish Center celebrated 20 years of service to the Irish Community of Yonkers at a Dinner that was held at The Lake Isle Country Club in Eastchester on September 30th.

Aisling Center Chairperson Agnes Delaney Welcomes Supporters

The center was founded at small gathering in the back of a pub on Bainbridge Ave in the Bronx to assist young and newly arrived Irish immigrants in the local community.  The center then opened on McLean Ave, in Yonkers a few years later and has now developed into a full service community center that has become a landing point for arriving Irish to the United States.

Kerri Ann O'Connor, Irish Consul General Barbara Jones & Hilary Beirne

The honorees for the dinner were The Office and Staff of the Irish Consulate General, Hilary Beirne, and Kerri Ann O'Connor.  The event was visited by Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino, Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano, and Westchster County Legislator David Tubiolo.

Aisling Center Executive Director Orla Kelleher with Division #1 Members

The AOH Division #1 of Yonkers has supported the Aisling center since it inception and continued that tradition by presenting a $3,500 donation to help fund its many activities and programs.  The funds were raised at the AOH Annual Charity Golf Outing which is held every spring.
