AOH Division One Vice President James Walsh Selected as Aide in NYC St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Jim Walsh 2013 Westchester Aide to the Grand Marshal

The Officers and members of A.O.H. Division One, Yonkers are proud to announce that James Walsh, our Vice President, has been chosen to represent the people of Westchester County as “Aide to The Grand Marshal” in the 252nd Annual New York City Saint Patrick’s Day Parade!

Tom Allison, Kevin Ellis, Jim Walsh, Mike Morley and Ronan O'Brien

The decision was officially announced last night at an installation ceremony held at the New York Athletic Club in Manhattan.  Many of Jim’s family and fellow Division members were on hand as Jim was formally installed along with 13 other Aides representing the AOH and other Irish organizations.

He will accompany Alfred E. Smith IV, this year’s Parade Grand Marshal, up 5th Ave in the most famous parade in the world.

Aides to the Grand Marshal are chosen annually by the Parade’s participating organizations in recognition for their outstanding service to the Irish American Community. “One’s selection as an Aide is acknowledgement of years of unselfish, dedicated and distinguished service to the New York and Irish communities plus it is the acknowledgement of their contribution to Irish Faith, Culture and Heritage.” said Hilary Beirne, The Parade’s Executive Secretary.

Jim Walsh has been a member of The Ancient Order of Hibernians in Yonkers for over 15 years, as has twice served as President of the Yonkers Division One.  "Jim Walsh is a true Hibernian who has earned the respect and admiration of his fellow fraternal brothers as well as from the entire Irish Community in Westchester County" said current Yonkers Division President Kevin Ellis, "This is an honor that is truly well deserved.''
