President's Message for April 2014

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Division One President Kevin Ellis

April 2014

Brothers,

The month of March 2014 will surely be a memorable one!  Division One held its Annual Communion Breakfast and marched proudly in 4 Parades.  We also participated in The Yonkers Flag Raising and Parade Dinner Dance, a tremendous schedule by any means.  Let’s have a quick recap….

Once again, our Annual Communion Breakfast was a wonderful success!  We had over 190 people in attendance.  Congratulations to our Hibernian of the Year Kevin Hartnett.  Special thanks to Brendan Murphy and the entire breakfast committee for all of the hard work that went into the event.

Our parade marching season was again tremendously successful.  I have gotten 100% positive feedback from the various parade committees on how Division One presented itself in each parade, so congratulations to you all!  What a wonderful example our members set for everyone when it comes to celebrating The Feast Day of St. Patrick.  You should be very proud of how we represented the AOH and The City of Yonkers.

But hold on!  If you think we can sit back and relax now, you are most certainly mistaken, because now we charge head first into one of our most important months of the year.

The Division One 17th Annual Charity Golf Outing will be held at The Ardsley Country Club on Monday, April 28th 2014.  This is the primary event for our Division to raise funds for our Charities and Missions Program.  It is the responsibility of every member to help make this event a success!  We will have extra flyers available at our monthly meeting.  HOLE SPONSORS, HOLE SPONSORS, HOLE SPONSORS!!!  I cannot stress the importance of making sure we not only follow up with our long time sponsors, but we must continue to seek out new ones each year.  Please make every effort to get friends, businesses and organizations to sponsor the golf outing.  I am confident that we will surpass our mark set last year.

Please remember that this is also the season for other AOH Divisions to hold their respective Communion Breakfasts’.  The Bronx will hold theirs on April 6th at St. Barnabas, and the Westchester County Board will have theirs on April 13th.  We ask that you support those who support us.   More information will be made available at the monthly membership meeting.

Yours in our motto,

Kevin Ellis, President
Division One, Yonkers
