Welcome to the Official Site for the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Myles Scully, Division One of Yonkers, New York! We are the oldest and largest Irish-American Organization in the U.S., and we are dedicated to live by our organization's motto, "FRIENDSHIP, UNITY and CHRISTIAN CHARITY." The Yonkers Division was established on November 1, 1891.

COMMODORE JOHN BARRY MEDAL WINNERS 2011


Division One Announces This Year’s Winners of the "COMMODORE JOHN BARRY MEMORIAL MEDAL"

            The officers and members of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Myles Scully Division One of Yonkers are pleased to announce this year's recipients of the COMMODORE  JOHN  BARRY MEMORIAL  MEDAL.  

                     The award is made available to all Catholic Elementary Schools in the city of Yonkers each year.  The award is given to a graduating student who excels in U.S. History and/or Social Studies.  A total of 9 schools chose to participate in this year's award program.  The winners are listed as follows;





St. Ann's School- Samantha McKillop

St. Paul the Apostle- Brandon Spear
Christ the King School- Matthew Gaschler
St. Anthony's School- Caitlin McHugh
St. Eugene's School- Thomas Espinal
St. John the Baptist School- Sean Crisp
Sacred Heart School- Virginia Hoblock
St. Peter's School- William McKissick
The Annunciation School- Joseph Ryan

                     The award is dedicated to the memory of Commodore John Barry, an Irish Catholic immigrant who is recognized as the father of the United States Navy.  He was awarded Navy Commission #1 by President George Washington in 1798, making him the first flag officer of the U.S. Navy.  Commodore John Barry's accomplishments embody the immigrant struggle for success and serves as an example for all young students today.
