INAGURAL McLEAN AVENUE ST. PATRICK'S DAY PARADE 2012

Yonkers A.O.H. Marches  in 1st Annual McLean Avenue St. Patrick's Day Parade

Meet Us on McLean! Member step onto the Emerald Mile In Yonkers

History was made in the City of Yonkers on March 24th, 2012 as the Myles Scully Division participated in the 1st Annual McLean Avenue St. Patrick’s Day Parade!  The parade was the creation of the McLean Avenue Merchants Association, and all of their hard work delivered incredible results as over 10,000 people jammed both sides of McLean Avenue, known as the “Emerald Mile” in Yonkers.

Warm Weather and Large Crowds Cheered on Division members

The parade assembled at the corner of McLean Avenue and Bronx River Road, and then proceeded westward, concluding in Coyne Park, near the A&P shopping center.

The Grand Marshal of the inaugural parade was none other than Division One member Judge Arthur Doran.  Judge Doran had previously been named Grand Marshal of the Yonkers St. Patrick’s Day Parade, so he now has the unique distinction of being the first person in Yonkers history to be named Grand Marshal of both St. Patrick’s Day Parades held in the city!

“It’s a great honor to march as the hometown Division in two parades”, said Division President Tom Allison, “The St. Patrick’s Day marching season now starts and finishes in the City of Yonkers, and Division One will represent the A.O.H.  proudly in both.”

The weather could not have been better, as parade goers were treated to sunny skies with temperatures rising into the mid 60’s.  After marching in the parade, Division One hosted a cocktail party and reception for the Grand Marshal at Byrne and Hanrahan.

Judging by the results, The McLean Avenue St. Patrick’s Day Parade was such a success, it is destined to be a yearly event from now on.  Members are already looking forward to next years parade!

Many Parade Spectators said that Division One was the "Best Dressed" Marching Unit!
