Yonkers A.O.H and Hurricane Sandy Relief Efforts

YONKERS A.O.H. TO ASSIST IN HURRICANE SANDY RELIEF EFFORTS

Division One members shopping for supplies at Sam's Club In Elmsford

The devastation brought on by Hurricane Sandy has affected thousands of homeowners, businesses and families in the Tri-State area.  One of the most shocking results is the large number of people who have lost everything they own; from homes, to automobiles, to everyday items like clothing and personal items.

Boxing up supplies for storm damaged areas

The members of Division One have responded by pledging $500 to the AOH Hurricane Sandy Relief Fund which is being run by the A.O.H. National Board.  Members also resolved to get personally involved in the relief efforts.  In conjunction with The Aisling Irish Community Center, members went shopping for supplies that are in desperate need in the storm ravaged areas.  They boxed up several items including diapers, baby food, batteries, flashlights and cleaning products and delivered them to the Aisling Center for distribution.

The Aisling Center's efforts have been nothing short of inspiring!

The Aisling Center has informed us that the level of devastation is absolutely tremendous, and that relief efforts will have to continue for months into the future.
Members of Division One are also preparing to volunteer for The Irish Day of Action, which is being organized by the Irish Consulate in New York.  Buses will leave the Aisling Center at 7:00 am on Saturday, November 24th and return at 3:00 pm.  They have set up an online registration page for those who want to volunteer.
