President's Message for December 2015

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Division One President Kevin Ellis

December 2015

Brothers,

I trust all of you had an enjoyable Thanksgiving Holiday and hopefully you did not over eat. (I must admit I did!) The month of November was a busy one for us so allow me to recap.

I would first like to thank all of the Division members who took time to attend the wake of Past AOH State President John Egan on November 4th.  Over 25 of you attended and it was great to have a very large Yonkers presence there.  There was hardly any room to fit all of the AOH members into the funeral parlor and I know John would be impressed with the large turnout.  May he Rest in Peace.

I attended The AOH New York State Board meeting that was held in Albany on November 7th.  There were many issues discussed and I will have a full report for the entire membership at our meeting on December 2nd at The Lakers Athletic Club.  There was a meeting held by a committee of affiliated organizations to the NYC St. Patrick’s Day Parade at Cathedral High School on November 18th.  Unfortunately I was unable to attend this meeting but our parade delegates Dennis & Dermot O’Brien were able to be there.  I expect they will have more information to report to us at our meeting.  Bob Eggen and I were able to attend the Archbishop John Hughes Memorial dedication which was held on November 22nd at The Basilica of St. Patrick’s Old Cathedral.  It was a truly historic event and both of us were privileged to take part.  There are pictures and descriptions of the day’s events on the main page of this site.

I attended the AOH Westchester County Board meeting in White Plains and we are going forward with plans for the Annual Dinner Dance to be held at The Doubletree Hotel in Tarrytown on Saturday, April 16th.  More details will be provided later.

All eyes this month are on our 2nd Annual Officer Installation and Christmas Gathering to be held at Dunwoodie Golf Course on Saturday, December 5th from 2pm-6pm.  This year we are happy to announce that this will be a combined installation ceremony with the ladies from the LAOH Division #19 of Yonkers.  It is my hope that we as Yonkers AOH & LAOH Divisions will share this event together going forward.  We will also have our drawing for our 2 round trip tickets to Ireland that day!  We expect to have a very heavy turnout so please get your RSVP into Tom Allison as soon as possible! This promises to be a very enjoyable afternoon.  The event flyer is listed below.

I would like to remind all members to please bring in all of your outstanding raffle tickets and monies to our meeting on Wednesday, December 2nd.  Please also remember that membership dues for 2016 are payable beginning this month.  The dues are $35.00 per member so please do not forget your dues!

I would like to wish all of our members, our friends and our supporters and their families a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year!

Yours in our motto,

Kevin Ellis, President
Division #1, Yonkers
