The 2015 St. Patrick's Day Marching Season
They Don’t Call It March for Nothing!
Yonkers Hibernians Participate in Area St. Patrick’s Day Parades

The St. Patrick’s Day Marching season is often referred to
as the “High Holy Month” by the members of The Ancient Order of Hibernians, and
the Myles Scully Division of Yonkers once again maintained a very busy parade
schedule.

The Rain did not slow us down in The White Plains Parade
The Division participated in four parades this year,
marching in White Plains, Sleepy Hollow, New York City and Yonkers.
This year was very special as two of our members were
honored as Aides to The Grand Marshal in different parades. Kevin
Hartnett was honored as an Aide in the Sleepy Hollow Parade, and Division One Sentinel Scott McGown was chosen at The AOH Aide to the
Grand Marshal in the 60th Annual Yonkers St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

Participation within the membership has increased each
year, with over 40 members marching on 5th Avenue in New York City
in the 254th Annual NYC Parade.
An additional 12 parade sashes were ordered this year to meet the increasing
demand by members to march.

We would like to congratulate our Hibernian Brother Larry
McCrudden, who achieved a historic milestone this year as Co-Chairman of The
Yonkers St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee.
Larry has served on the Yonkers Parade Committee for all 60 year of its
existence!
Here is a Video Slideshow of our Parade Season in 2015
So another St. Patrick's Day Parade season is in the books, and the members of the Ancient Order of Hibernians can take pride in how they once again led by example and will always serve to protect and preserve the true message of St. Patrick's Day!

St. Patrick's Day Message 2015
HAPPY ST. PATRICK’S DAY!
Today Marks the 254th Annual New
York City St. Patrick’s Day Parade
![]() |
The oldest, largest, and grandest parade in the world!
As has become
customary, we reprint our St. Patrick’s Day Message first printed in the book
entitled “250 Years of the NYC St. Patrick’s Day Parade.”
"For 254
years we've marched, through adverse times and weather. We've marched in
this sacred parade through years of occupation, persecution, and poverty.
We've
marched through years of famine, war, discrimination and hate; years of working
the killing jobs that no one else would take.
We
triumphed over all with a courageous and joyful spirit that is uniquely Irish.
Through
it all we survived and never wavered; we held the banner high; we never let
the standard drop.
And as always, we marched.
Today we
remember the millions of marchers who came before us, those magnificent Irish
souls whose struggles have given us all we have today. We pray for them,
we honor them; and we ask God to grant us the grace to always be as strong as
they were.
On this
momentous day let us rededicate ourselves to the struggle. May we always
band together to help each other, and bravely fight to overcome the world's
adversities. May we always hold the banner high and never drop the
standard. And may we teach our children and our children's children to do
the same.
Whatever the
future brings, let us meet it with the hope, faith and happiness of our forebears.
And always…..LET US MARCH."

AOH Annual Communion Breakfast 2015
AOH of Yonkers Hosts Annual Communion Breakfast at St. Joseph’s
Seminary
The Communion Breakfast Mass at St. Joseph's Seminary
The AOH Myles Scully Division #1 of Yonkers
held its Annual Communion Breakfast at St. Joseph’s Seminary on February 22nd. The event drew over 200 guests who attended
Mass in The Seminary’s Chapel and then was served a full hot breakfast in the campus
refectory.
The guest
speaker for the event was ESPN commentator and studio analyst Tommy Smyth, who
shared his inspiring life story from beginnings in Ireland to traveling the
world broadcasting championship soccer matches for the largest sports network
in the world. Tommy and his wife Treasa also serve as the broadcast team for the WNBC-TV broadcast of The New York City St. Patrick's Day Parade every year.

Pat McLaughlin and Larry McCrudden Hibernians of The Year 2015
Two Division
members, Patrick McLaughlin and Larry McCrudden, were honored as Hibernians of
the Year for 2015. “Patrick and Larry are members that symbolize the very best of The AOH”,
said Division One President Kevin Ellis, “Both
of these men represent the highest standard of community service and
citizenship that we all hope to achieve”.
The McSweeney Chalice is used during The AOH Mass each year
The event is
special not only for its stunning location, but also for the fact that St.
Joseph’s Seminary is the home of The
McSweeney Chalice, an Irish relic that was created during the time of The
Penal Laws in Ireland and eventually made its way to America. The Seminary Faculty and Staff graciously
agree to take the chalice from its vault and use it during the AOH mass each
year.

Division One welcomed AOH NY State Vice President Tim McSweeney (R)
The Officers and Members of Division One would like to thank all of our friends and supporters for making this event a success. We would also like to especially thank the faculty and staff at St. Joseph's Seminary who welcome us each and every year.
