The 3rd Annual Chilly Hilly 5k Run/Walk of Yonkers

AOH Yonkers Supports The 3rd Annual Chilly Hilly 5k Run/Walk

And They're Off!  Over 500 runners take part in Chilly Hilly 5k Run

The North Yonkers Scholarship Foundation held its 3rd Annual Chilly Hilly 5k Run/Walk this past weekend, and The AOH Yonkers Division #1 was once again proud to help sponsor the event!  Over 500 runners enjoyed a beautiful sunny day all while helping to raise money for a very worthy cause.

Tom Goff, James Walsh, and Tom Allison at The AOH Water Station

This year, the event was to help support The Special Program and Resource Connection of Yonkers (SPARC).   SPARC enhances the lives of people with developmental disabilities through high quality therapeutic recreation activities. Participants work on skill development in a nurturing social community that does not otherwise exist in their lives.  SPARC provides active, challenging, and interesting recreation for people with special needs, as well as respite for their families. The SPARC specialists use enjoyable, goal-oriented activities as steps towards overcoming obstacles and developing behavioral, functional and life skill goals.

Runners Down Palisade Ave. in The Chilly Hilly 5k Run

Division One members are actively involved in helping to organize and run the event.  Many members and their families have participated in the run every year, while others helped run one of the many waters stations along the route.

All Ready for the Start of The Chilly Hilly 5k Run

Congratulations to all the runners, volunteers and especially to the members of The North Yonkers Scholarship Foundation!  To learn more about The Special Program and Resource Connection and how you can help them, please visit their website at:

2nd ANNUAL MAMA FALL STREET FESTIVAL 2012

The 2nd Annual McLean Avenue Merchant’s Association Fall Festival 2012

A tremendous crowd fills McLean Ave. along the "Emerald Mile" in Yonkers

The McLean Avenue Merchant’s Association held its 2nd Annual Fall Street Festival on September 15th, and the Myles Scully Division was there to enjoy the tremendous day as over 10,000 people crowded along the “Emerald Mile” in Yonkers.

The festival has grown tremendously in only its second year

Incredibly, in only its second year, the festival has grown from a one-time experiment to a guaranteed blockbuster yearly event that is fun for the whole family.  There was something there for everyone; rides, games, crafts, music, dancing and don’t forget the raffle tickets.  There was even an Irish sausage and cannoli eating contest!

Sign up here!  The Division One recruitment table

The A.O.H. of Yonkers had an information and recruiting booth located near the east end of the festival, and we are proud to say that we were successful in signing up nearly a dozen new members!  It was also wonderful to see all of our friends and supporters over the years stop by our tent and say hello.  We were even giving away free refrigerator magnets emblazoned with our newly designed Division One Logo.

Everyone loved the new Division One logo magnets!

The officers and members of Division One would like to congratulate The McLean Avenue Merchant’s Association for putting on such a wonderful day!  Division One is a proud and enthusiastic supporter of MAMA.  Special thanks to brother Sean McEvoy, owner of Danny Mac’s Tavern, who helped us with our location and setup.  We have learned in a very short amount of time that we can always count on Sean!

Division members Tommy Goff, Kevin Ellis, Tom Allison and Dave Miller

We hope that everyone “Meets us on McLean” next Year!  To learn more about the McLean Avenue Merchant's Association, visit their Facebook Page at. https://www.facebook.com/mclean.merchants
