Cavan Football Club Boxing Night 2013
Yonkers
AOH Supports Fellow Hibernian at Charity Boxing Tournament
The members
of Division One were out in force in Woodside Queens this week to support
fellow Hibernian Sean McEvoy as he
took part in a fundraising boxing tournament in support of The Cavan Football
and Social Club of New York. Sean is a
proud member of Division One and the owner of Danny Mac’s Bar in Yonkers.
Here is a Video of Sean's Fight
Members
joined other supporters on the bus trip to St. Mary’s in Woodside and were
treated to 7 amateur fights to raise money for the Cavan Organization. Sean’s fight was ruled a draw by the referee,
but members couldn’t help but feel Sean was the better fighter!
Everyone had a great night helping raise money for the Cavan Football Club |
The night
came to an exciting finish as Brother Ronan O’Brien made a surprise guest
appearance as a ring card girl in the final round of the final fight. Scratch one more thing off the bucket list!
Member Ronan O'brien wows the crowd during the final bout! |
Division One
is proud of Sean and all of the other volunteers who boxed and made this night
memorable for all!

Award for Yonkers AOH Charities Program
Yonkers
Division Honored by A.O.H. N.Y. State Board for Charities Program
The New York State Board of
The Ancient Order of Hibernians honored The Yonkers Division for its
outstanding charities and missions work at its Biennial Convention held in
Saratoga Springs, NY. The
Charities and Missions Award is presented to
Divisions who have donated at least $5,000 to deserving Irish and Catholic Charities
in New York. Division One Yonkers
reported over $16,000 in cash donations, and logged in over 950 hours of
community service by its members.
The award
was presented by New York State President
Mike McNabb to Division One President
Kevin Ellis. “This is another great achievement
for the members of Division One” said Ellis, “This award is a direct result of
the hard work done by our membership, and the dedication of our Charities Chairman Jack McDonald.”
Funding for
the Division Charities Program is raised through its Annual Golf Outing held
every Spring.
