Respect Life Sunday Mass at St. Patrick's Cathedral

Yonkers AOH Attends Respect Life Mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral

AOH Members Assemble on the steps of St. Patrick's Cathedral

Sunday, October 4th was dedicated as Respect Life Sunday within The Archdiocese of New York, and once again The Ancient Order of Hibernians in partnership with The Sisters of Life Religious Order were sponsors of the Respect Life Mass that was held at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City.

Division #1 Yonkers was well represented within the AOH contingent

Over 100 AOH members attended the mass, and were warmly greeted by Celebrant and Rector of St. Patrick’s Cathedral, the Reverend Monsignor Robert T. Richie.  This also marked the first opportunity for many AOH members to view the Cathedral after undergoing a 150 Million Dollar renovation which was completed a month earlier.  The interior of The Cathedral presented a display of magnificent brilliance, a result from all of the work that was painstakingly done.

Monsignor Ritchie reminded all in attendance of the recent visit by Pope Francis the previous week, and prayed that his presence would help bring about greater respect for the sanctity of all human life.

Member of The Myles Scully Division #1 of Yonkers were also proud to present The Sisters of life with a donation to help them with the very important work that they do.  A total of 20 members from Yonkers were able to attend the mass.

After mass, the AOH members attended a breakfast hosted by The New York County Board at Maggie’s Place on East 47th Street in Manhattan.  Special thanks to AOH State District Director Tom Beirne who always works hard to make this annual event a success every year!
